Last September Molly saved our lives by detecting a gas leak that had been going on for a week. Her behavior had radically changed as she suddenly was jumping out of screen windows. After she went to her agility class, where she was shaken and nervous as well, our trainer Jeannine Jay asked if something had changed at home that would trigger this. She had not been prone to separation anxiety and that had been the vet's diagnosis based on the fact that all her break-outs occurred when we were not home.
After the vet visit, we sealed the house up tight and that really made things worse. Of course, we did not KNOW that the gas leaked smelled bad to her and was choking her in many ways. Kit-kat seemed unaware of anything. Molly was nervous wreck and seemed especially nervous when the wind would blow through the open screened windows.
Well, anyway, I went home that night and noticed just how fearful Molly was, and how she kept staring at the ceiling above the fireplace and sniffing around there. It looked like she was watching ghosts. Well, I went down to the basement and found that there was a distinct gas odor coming from under the gas fireplace. The gas company shut our gas supply off completely until we could get a new valve.
Let me tell you! Molly saved our lives.
She continued to be fearful for over a month afterwards, but thanks to Reiki from Miranda Workman, special dog music, rescue remedy and windows no longer being opened in the colder fall, Molly got more her old self again.
I've seen nothing but positive progress until YESTERDAY!!!! That's in the next installment of Molly and Kit.
